Bowls (Lawn Bowls) Tournament for Students with Disability 2026
The School Sport Unit is hosting a Bowls Tournament for students with disability in 2026.
Students do not require prior lawn bowls experience and will be assisted with learning the sport throughout the tournament.
Details
Dates: Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 June 2026.
Location: Cabra Bowls, 82 Longfield St, Cabramatta NSW 2166.
Equipment: Own equipment permitted.
Bowls will be provided for students who require them.
Footwear: Bowls shoes or flat soled sneakers must be worn.
Ages: Any student 12 –19 years, attending a NSW secondary school may compete.
Organisation: During the Day 1 morning session, students will receive coaching in the sport of bowls, then be graded into composite teams for competition across the Day 1 afternoon and Day 2 sessions.
Exact team sizes and game formats will be determined once registrations close and attendance numbers are known.

The event is inclusive of the following impairments:
- Autism
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Intellectual
- Physical
- Transplant recipients
- Vision
Note – Students must have a formal sporting classification to compete – https://app.education.nsw.gov.au/sport/disability-and-inclusion/CLASSIFICATION
For students with physical impairment, a letter from a relevant medical specialist outlining the impairment and its impact on their sporting ability may be accepted, as not all physical impairments have access to a formal sporting classification.
It is anticipated that from this event, a NSW team will be selected to compete in the School Sport Australia Bowls Championship, in Victoria, 6-8 September 2026. This is the first time the event will include a section for students with disability.
