About Combined Independent Schools

In 1994 the Board of The Association of Independent Schools of NSW agreed to the establishment of the New South Wales Combined Independent Schools Sports Council (NSWCISSC) for the purpose of providing independent school students and staff with the opportunity to participate in State and National school sporting activities previously only available to those in State schools. The model chosen for this Council was designed to assist both existing and new Sporting Associations of schools to work together to achieve this objective. NSWCISSC commenced activities in 1995.
In the first stage of operation the relevant structures and sub-committees were established. These worked most efficiently and have provided benefits to those many gifted and talented sports people within the independent school sector seeking opportunities at the State and National level.
At the end of 2017 NSWCISSC became a company, a stand-alone entity with the schools becoming members of the council. A Board of Directors was elected to guide CIS into the future.
