CIS Secondary Award Nomination Form
Blue, Blue with Honours, Blue Bar and Blue Bar with Honours Nominations
This form is to be completed by CIS Sport Convenors only, for award nominations only in sports they convene for CIS. Please note that each nomination requires an action photo. Parents may be approached to provide a photo, however please explain that the photo is required to complete the nomination, it does not mean they will be receiving an award.
The following awards are covered by this form.
Blues
To receive a Blue a student must fulfill the following criteria:
1. be a NSWCIS medallion recipient in the current year
2. be in Years 10, 11 or 12
3. Reach the following basic standard in their sport:
3.1 Team sports – perform at an outstanding level at the SSA Australia level:
i) Perform at an exceptionally high standard at the SSA Tournament OR
ii) Where no SSA event takes place in Yrs 10-12 has been named in a NSW All Schools
Merit Team or is considered to be one of the top two in that sport.
iii) Where there is no pathway in a sport to NSW All Schools or SSA level after the 15 or
16 years level a Year 9 student fulfilling the above standards may be eligible to be
considered for a blue. e.g AFL; Boys Cricket
3.2 Individual Sports - achieve 1st, 2nd or 3rd Place in an individual event at the SSA level.
3.3 Student Officials – perform at an exceptionally high standard at the SSA level e.g asked
to officiate finals.
4. Satisfy School Principal, NSWCIS Sports Convenor, Sports Association Delegate and the
NSWCISSC Awards Committee that he or she has participated in the true spirit of NSWCISSC.
Please note that in any one year generally a maximum of two blue/blue bars, per gender, per sport for players and student officials may be awarded. Para-athletes are generally limited to one per sport/per gender
Blue with Honours
To receive a Blue with Honours a student must fulfill the following criteria
1. be a NSWCIS medallion recipient in the current year
2. be in Years 11 or 12 and
3. reach the following standard in their sport
3.1 Team sports - be selected in the SSA Team
3.2 Individual Sports
i) Swimming and Athletics - achieve either a 1st place and a record or two 1st places at
the SSA/PSG Event .
ii) Cross Country and Triathlon – achieve 1st place at the SSA event
iii) Diving – achieve a 1st and another place at the SSA event
There is no limit on the number of Blues with Honours that can be awarded in a year. Where the only pathway to SSA in a sport is at the 15 Years level students in years 8 and 9 will be considered eligible for a Blue or Blue with Honours.
NSWCIS Blue Bar / Blue Bar with Honours
To be awarded with a Blue Bar / Blue Honours students must:
1. have been awarded a NSWCISSC Blue or Blue with Honours in a previous year.
2. have demonstrated continued exceptional sporting or officiating achievement in the same
sport and met the Blue or Blue with Honours Award Criteria.
