2021 NSWCIS Primary School Swimming Championships
Carnival Entry
Carnival Entry will be through the Mouse Hole entry on the Eastern side of the pool - (off the carpark at the Diving end of the pool). Whilst awaiting entry please follow directions of staff and be aware of physical distancing.
Trial Time
Warm Up 7:30am; Clear the Pool: 8:15 am
Carnival: 8:30am - 3:00pm
Trial Format
Inter Association Championship
The following events will be contested for both Boys and Girls
- 8 - 12/13 Years 50m Freestyle
- Junior , 11 Years and 12/13 Years 50m Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly
- Open 100m Freestyle
- Junior and Senior 200m Freestyle Relay
- Multi Class 50m Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly
- Please note that the Junior and Senior 200 IM will not be swum at the CIS Carnival but conducted as an Additional Event Nomination.
Please note: Associations wishing to nominate students for the 200IM for NSWPSSA must enter them in the Meet Manager file. These events are listed as Events 44-47 and each association may nominate up to 3 students per this event.
All 50m and relay events will be run as heats and finals; The 100m and Multi Class events will be conducted as Timed Finals (TF).
The Program of Events has been loaded below. Once all entries have been received and the Meet Manager program merged, Session Times & Start Lists will also be loaded there.
Withdrawals: Each association is responsible for their own replacements, but this information must be supplied to the recorders at least 15 minutes prior to the race to avoid disqualification. Students that are not withdrawn and do not compete will be charged the Nomination Fee
Results Start Lists and live results can be accessed on the Meet Mobile App. There is a small fee on the App for Meet Mobile Results
COVID- 19 Guidelines:
All competitors, spectators and officials are to adhere to all COVID – 19 Guidelines being applied at a CIS venue.
At any venue, all competitors, spectators and officials are to maintain physical distancing, wash/sanitise their hands regularly and refrain form entering a venue if they are felling unwell.

Venue Specific Guidelines
One spectator/adult per child.
Carnival Official / School Staff / Coaches must QR code in.
The carnival will be swum under the ARRIVE, COMPETE, LEAVE protocols.
Arrival - CIS recommends only those involved in relays and the Junior Freestyle events (Events 1 - 10) arrive in time for the warm up at 7:30am.
Competitors in Events 11 onwards should arrive no earlier than 9:15am.
Please aim to minimise the time spent at the venue both prior and after your event/s
Showers will not be available during the event. CIS recomends competitors arrive ready to compete and limit use of the change room facilities .
Spectators are encouraged to stay in the grandstand area. NO PARENTS WILL BE ALLOWED IN the MARSHALLING AREA or ON POOL DECK .
Uniform Areas - Please practice physical distancing whilst queuing for uniform or CIS general apparel and follow all instructions from staff. Contactless payment only - no cash
No Singing or Chanting
Parking
Four hours of parking is provided free. Over4 hours is a flat rate of $20 per day .
First Aid
First Aid is provided by Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.
Dress
Swimmers must fall in line with FINA rules and requirements regarding swimming gear.
Association caps must be worn.
Food & Drink
The main cafe will not be accessible during the carnival. The concession on the Eastern side of the grandstand will be open. CIS strongly recommends competitors bring food and snacks with them.
CIS Team
All swimmers who participate at the NSWCIS carnival should be available for selection in the CIS Team in the events in which they swim. Should this not be the case, individual association convenors should be notified so that they can inform the selectors prior to the meet.
Generally only those who compete at the CIS Championships will be eligible for selection in the CIS Primary Swimming Team. Usually selections will be based on the fastest 3 times per event and the NSWCIS Selection Policy (see Operational Guidelines). Students placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd must report to the Murray Rose / Dawn Faser rooms to register, purchase uniform and pay the levy. Changes at the NSWPSSA Championships due to illness or injury will be at the discretion of the Team Managers.
Fourth place-getters are generally reserves. . Should there be a withdrawal students will be contacted via their school prior to the NSWPSSA.
Multi Class swimmers will be ranked in Senior (11 & over) and Junior (10 & Under) events for selection in the CIS team. These selections are subject to placing on the basis of classification and pathway qualifying standards.
Selection in the CIS Team will be confirmed on the CIS website by Friday 19 March.
NSWPSSA Selection
Please note that although 8, 9, 10, 11,12 & 13 year olds may be selected in the CIS team, only competitors turning 10 - 12 in the year of competition can be selected at the NSWPSSA Championships for the NSWPSSA Team for School Sport Australia.
Officials
The CIS Primary Swimming Association Official Duties Allocation Form is Due on - Thursday 11 March- return to Lyndall Jesse E: ljesse@cis.nsw.edu.au at CIS. Please note that officials not registered to the CIS website are required to note their WWCC numbers on the duty form. The form has been loaded below.
It is the responsibility of each association to ensure all officials and student helpers as outlined in the Association Officials Duties Form, are allocated and present at the carnival. THESE ARE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS. It is expected that officials will be aware of their specific job and have experience in the role at the association level.
Teacher Officials: Requirements for teachers have been kept to a minimum so it is essential that those listed ARE teachers. Should an official fail to register at the beginning of the day it is the association's responsibility to find a replacement.
Students Helpers: These are essential for the smooth running of the carnival and their availability reduces the number of teachers required at the carnival. Associations must fulfill their student allocation. If students are unavailable adult helpers MUST be supplied.
Parent Officials: Please ensure that non teachers have completed a Working with Children check.

PSSA Official Duties: - Form is loaded below
CIS to required to supply a minimum of 8 officials to the PSSA carnival. PSSA Officials nominations are to be forwarded to CIS by Thursday 11 March. Officials at PSSA are required to attend for both days. If you are interested in being involved at this level contact your association Swimming Committee Representative or Association Delegate.
