Method of Entry

• Direct to NSW All Schools via CIS, nominated by the school

Eligibility

• Age is determined by the competitior's age as at the DOB as at 31/12/2024

Juniors 12 to 14 Years Born on or before 31 December 2010, 2011, 2012;
300M Swim; 10KM Cycle; 2KM Run

Intermediate 15, 16 Years Born on or before 31 December 2008, 2009;
500M Swim; 15KM Cycle; 4KM Run

Senior 17,18,19 Years Born on or before 31 December 2005, 2006, 2007
750M Swim; 20KM Cycle; 5KM Run

All Multi Class Athletes
300M Swim; 10KM Cycle; 2KM Run

Multiclass Triathlon Entries
The 2024 NSW All Schools Triathlon will have a Para-Triathlon component that is open to multi-class athletes. To
be eligible, multiclass athletes must:

• Be able complete a 300m swim, 10km bike and 2km run unassisted. Athletes may be assisted in transition, for both the swim to bike transition and the bike to run transition.
• Have a multi-class classification for triathlon or a multi-class classification for swimming, cycling or athletics with endorsement from a coach (or similar) that the multi-class athlete will be able to complete the relevant triathlon distances.
• To be considered for selection on the NSW team to attend the SSA Triathlon Championship, competitors must complete each leg of the course and the overall course within the allocated time limits. Cutoff times are as per the below:
  o Swim leg (300m) – 10 minutes
  o Bike leg (10km) – 30 minutes
  o Run leg (2km) – 17minutes
  o Overall – 57 minutes

Entry to the Individual Triathlon event is not capped and schools may enter as many athletes as they wish. Individual Triathlon nominations are entered as for all CIS sports, where nominees are invited to join the school Triathlon team through the Triathlon for Individuals sport portal.
 

N.B. Schools may be required to provide a supervising Teacher/Official at the event.

Cost

A sport nomination fee of $45.00 (inclusive of GST) per student will be charged to the school at the end of the term.

Further Representation 

• A NSW All Schools will be selected to attend the School Sport Australia Championships. There will be a player’s levy and uniform costs involved with competing at this level.

Safety, Supervision and Conditions of Entry

• This is a safety-oriented event with a closed circuit (no vehicles–except drafting motor bikes) ride and a protected open water swim.
• Students with pre-existing medical conditions must be identifiable on the day. Medical information MUST be provided upon registering the student along with a management plan. Individuals will need to report to officials on the day. Failure to do so may result in the individual / team being disqualified.
• Swimmers MUST be competent and able to meet the demands of the swim leg. Any students not meeting these expectations will be removed from the water immediately. This decision will be at the discretion of course officials / water safety.
• All individuals / teams must have an adult representative present on the day.
• All cyclists must wear an approved helmet. All bikes must be presented for a safety inspection prior to racing on the course.
• It is expected that all participating students are suitably prepared prior to the championships to meet the physical demands of the event (in varying environmental conditions) and are appropriately hydrated and fuelled to participate safely.

Bike Restrictions

The following equipment restrictions will apply for the NSW All Schools Race:

(i) The bicycle may be on-road, off-road or youth style. No “time trial” style bicycles are allowed. No recumbent style bicycles are allowed. No BMX bikes are allowed.

(ii) Only standard drop, straight, or curved handlebars are allowed. No aero or time trial bars may be attached to the bike or used during competition.

(iii) For all events wheels must have at least 16 spokes.

(iv) No disc wheels or wheel covers are allowed.

(v) Carbon wheels must be no deeper than 60mm

(vi) Only detachable tyres and tubes shall be used

(vii) Time trial style helmets may NOT be used.
